"NEW" RIEGL LMS-Q680i FULL WAVEFORM LiDAR SYSTEM PURCHASED BY ACA

Example of first ever Full Waveform LiDAR Collection."We are excited to have the full wave form laser pulse technology as part of our current LiDAR services says Jim Humphrey President of ACA. The ability to record multiple returns in highly vegetated areas is a must especially with Florida's dense vegetation environment. With ACA's technical approach we will penetrate into the vegetation and reach the ground for surface measurement better than anyone in the mapping business.

LMS-Q680i machineThe 400 kHz system has an effective rate of 266,000 LiDAR point measurements at the ground level. The Q680i combines advanced digital signal processing with a high performance LiDAR engine. "The combination allows the user to benefit from the high pulse rate at higher flight altitudes while achieving increased densities with better measurement accuracy on the ground," said Dr. Andreas Ullrich, RIEGL Laser Measurement Systems CTO.

Having a 60° field-of-view capability enables less flight lines than other systems on the market.  The LMS-Q680i is best suited for heavy vegetated areas, flood plain, coastal shorelines, power line corridors, transportation, rail & pipeline corridors, and 3D city modeling. "We are pleased to have ACA as an owner of the very first LMSQ-680i. ACA is well known for providing precision mapping products and they will integrate the Q680i's advanced capabilities to provide the very best LiDAR mapping results" said Jim Van Rens, President of Riegl USA, Orlando, FL.

Example of high density point cloud data for transmission lines.ACA's Cessna Grand Caravan 208 is now equipped with a Vexcel UCX Large Format Digital Mapping Camera and the new LMS-Q680i Full Wave Form LiDAR Sensor. With just a single mobilization ACA can acquire both imagery and LiDAR data at one time, single altitude, single flight line, providing an important cost savings to its customers.

Ultra-CamX digital camera
May 28, 2008

Digital Camera Aerial Cartographics of America, Inc. (ACA) has purchased its first high resolution digital aerial camera. Vexcel, the leading high resolution frame based digital camera manufacturer, indicates that this is a first in Florida and the southeastern United States.

"We selected the Ultra-CamX because of its large format and outstanding image quality," says Jim Humphrey, President of ACA. ACA sees many new business opportunities as well as improving services for our existing customers. Our new digital camera will provide a higher quality product in less time and at a reduced cost over conventional film cameras.

The new Ultra-CamX produces color, false color and panchromatic images simultaneously, whereas a conventional film based camera can only achieve one film type during each flight mission. The digital images are over 200 megabytes each in raw format and can achieve a pixel size equal to 3inch (GSD).

To learn more about our new digital camera and how it might benefit you on your next project, give us a call or send us an email. Sample data is available upon request.
